 Antiguo Egipto

Alrededor del año 2700 a. C., los egipcios introdujeron el primer sistema de numeración completamente desarrollado de base 10. Aunque no era un sistema posicional, permitió el uso de grandes números y también de fracciones en la forma de fracciones unitarias

Los egipcios lograron grandes avances en la geometría del algebra, los egipcios lograron a dominar con una fluidez más alta la resta, suma, multiplicación y división pero lo que más los destaco es que llegaron a resolver ecuaciones con una incógnita. En Egipto el rio Nilo fue de gran ayuda para las matemáticas, porque cuando había fuertes lluvias el rio se crecía e inundaba terrenos y entonces los campesinos cuando bajaba de nivel median sus terrenos para marcar las márgenes.

Antes de que los funcionarios de antiguo Egipto empezaran a ejercer sus labores pasaban por clases de escritura y cálculo, esto lo hacían con el fin de que el país estuviera dirigido por personas cultas e instruidas.  Para ellos las matemáticas les ayudaba a controlar el material que se usaba para la construcción de edificios, la exportación, la importación y la producción de las cosechas. 

También los arquitectos reales utilizaban su conocimiento geométrico para calcular la inclinación de las caras de las pirámides.  Algo muy importante que hicieron los egipcios fue que descubrieron el teorema de Pitágoras, no fue Pitágoras quien lo hizo sino que por su experiencia y práctica lo concluyo.

Also the royal architects used their geometric knowledge to calculate the inclination of the faces of the pyramids. Something very important that the Egyptians did was that they discovered the Pythagorean theorem, it was not Pythagoras who did it, but because of his experience and practice, he concluded it.
